Tips To Get The Best Car Rental Deals
In every big US city, booking around 7 days ahead beats the average price. Lock a free-cancellation rate, then rebook if it drops.
Off-site "bargains" in Orlando and Miami often add shuttle waits and surprise fees. In-terminal brands are usually cheaper in total.
Florida toll transponders run $15–$20 a day. Bring proof of your own insurance or use a credit card with rental coverage.
Young-driver, one-way and airport fees can double a $20 headline rate. Always compare the all-in price across suppliers.

Frequently Asked Questions
How old do I need to be to rent a car in the US?
Most suppliers rent from age 21, and drivers under 25 pay a young-driver fee of about $20–$35 a day. New York and Michigan allow rentals from 18 by law. From 25 you get the standard rate everywhere.
Does Greenspicks charge a booking fee?
No. You book directly with our trusted rental partner at their price. We may earn a small commission, which never changes what you pay.
Do I need extra insurance?
If you have US auto insurance or a credit card with rental coverage, you can usually decline the counter's collision damage waiver. Bring proof of coverage, especially in Florida, or expect to be charged $20–$50 a day for the supplier's own policy.
Can I pick up at the airport and drop off somewhere else?
Yes. One-way rentals are common between big cities such as Los Angeles and Las Vegas or Miami and Orlando. A one-way fee may apply, so compare the total before you book. See our one-way car rental guide.
Can I rent with a debit card?
A few suppliers accept debit cards with a larger deposit and proof of a return flight, but most on-airport brands require a credit card in the driver's name. A credit card also avoids a hold of $200–$500 on your bank account.
