Every price you see in a Greenspicks guide comes from a real search on a specific date. This page explains where those numbers come from, how we check them and what they can and cannot tell you.
Flights
- Source: Google Flights, searched in US dollars from a US location.
- What we search: economy, one adult, usually a round trip on fixed dates that we name in the article (for example “March 10–20, 2027”).
- What we report: the cheapest fare we found on that search, and often a nonstop or major-airline alternative. These are individual observations, not averages.
- Date: every table says when we checked it.
Hotels
- Source: Trip.com, searched for named dates.
- What we search: usually 2 adults in 1 room. If a guide is about families, we search with children and say so.
- What we report: the total price for the stay including taxes and fees shown at that point, plus a rounded per-night price. Local city taxes that are paid at the hotel can come on top; we mention them where we know about them.
Rental cars, tickets and local costs
- Rental cars: average and lowest daily prices from DiscoverCars for the named airport or city, with the date the data was updated.
- Entry fees, transit fares and visas: taken from the official operator or government website where one exists. If we rely on another source, we name it.
- Food and daily budgets: typical ranges based on the prices above and local menus. We mark these as estimates.
Why your price may be different
Airfares and hotel rates change many times a day. A price we found on one date is a snapshot, not a promise. Use our numbers to understand what is cheap or expensive for a route or city, then check the live price for your own dates before you book.
How we keep guides up to date
When we update a guide, we search again and change the date at the top of the article and next to each table. Older figures that we could not check again are removed or clearly marked.
Who checks the prices
Greenspicks is run by Elvys Moya. We use AI tools to help research and draft articles, but the prices come from the searches described above, the sources we cite are real and linked, and every guide is reviewed before it is published. More about the site and how it makes money is on our About page.
