Last updated: October 30, 2026. Flight and hotel prices below were checked on that date on Google Flights and Trip.com. Attraction and transport prices come from official operators. Prices change daily, so treat them as a snapshot, not a quote. Exchange rate: about S$1.28 per US dollar.

Singapore has a reputation as Asia’s most expensive city. For hotels that is true. But food at hawker centers is cheap, the MRT is cheap and many of the best sights are free, so a couple can control the budget well.

Here are real 2026 numbers for a 7-night trip for two: flights from the US, actual hotel prices, transport, attractions and three sample budgets.

Quick answer: what does Singapore cost for a couple?

For 7 nights, total for two people, including round-trip flights from the US West Coast:

  • Budget: about $2,300
  • Mid-range: about $3,400
  • Comfort: about $4,600

Without flights, that is roughly $120, $260 and $430 per day for the two of you. The full breakdown is below.

Flights from the US to Singapore

We checked round trips to Singapore Changi (SIN) for March 7–17, 2027 (economy, per person):

Route Cheapest Cheapest nonstop
San Francisco (SFO) – Singapore $738 (nonstop) $738 (Singapore Airlines)
Los Angeles (LAX) – Singapore $734 (1 stop, China Eastern) $776 (Singapore Airlines)
New York (JFK) – Singapore $950 (1 stop, Korean Air / Delta) none found on our dates

Source: Google Flights, checked October 30, 2026. Round trip, economy, 1 adult.

The surprise: from the West Coast, a nonstop on Singapore Airlines costs almost the same as a connection. On a 16- to 17-hour flight, that is an easy choice. From the East Coast you will need one stop, and it costs about $200 more per person.

Entry: no visa, no fee

US citizens do not need a visa for a tourist visit. You only fill in the free SG Arrival Card online within three days before arrival. Use the official ICA website or app. Third-party sites that charge for it are not necessary.

Singapore hotel prices

This is where Singapore gets expensive. We checked 7 nights (March 8–15, 2027) for two adults in one room on Trip.com. Prices are totals including taxes:

Hotel Area 7 nights Per night
The Pod @ Beach Road (capsule) Bugis $340 ~$49
ST Signature Chinatown Chinatown $406 ~$58
ST Signature Jalan Besar Little India $431 ~$62
Hotel Royal Novena $830 ~$119
YOTEL Orchard Road Orchard $858 ~$123
Hotel Mi Rochor Bugis $912 ~$130
V Hotel Lavender Lavender $1,027 ~$147
Mercure ICON City Centre Chinatown $1,151 ~$164
Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay Singapore River $1,279 ~$183

Source: Trip.com, checked October 30, 2026. 2 adults, 1 room, total price including taxes. The capsule price is for two pods.

What this means for a couple:

  • Under $65 a night you are in a capsule hotel or a very small budget room. The ST Signature hotels are clean and central, but many rooms are tiny and some have no window. Check the room description before you book.
  • About $120–165 a night gets you a proper double room in a good area like Bugis, Orchard or Chinatown. This is the sweet spot for most couples.
  • Marina Bay hotels, including Marina Bay Sands, cost a multiple of that. The famous infinity pool is for hotel guests only.

Getting around: MRT and buses

Singapore’s MRT is clean, fast and cheap. You can simply tap a contactless Visa, Mastercard or Amex card, or your phone, at the gates.

  • Single MRT ride: about S$1.28–2.57 (about $1–2), depending on distance
  • Changi Airport to the city by MRT: about S$2, with one change
  • Singapore Tourist Pass: S$17 for 1 day, S$29 for 3 days, S$45 for 5 days
  • Foreign cards: expect a small admin fee of about S$0.60 per day

For most visitors with 3–4 rides a day, paying per ride with your card is cheaper than the Tourist Pass. Grab (the local Uber) is handy late at night or with luggage. Short rides in the city usually cost about S$10–20. If you prefer a fixed-price airport pickup, see our airport transfer page.

Food: the cheap part of Singapore

Hawker centers are the best value in the city. A plate of chicken rice, laksa or char kway teow typically costs about S$5–8 ($4–6), and some hawker stalls hold a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Good places to start: Maxwell Food Centre, Lau Pa Sat, Old Airport Road and Chinatown Complex.

Rough daily ranges for two people:

  • Budget, about $30 a day: hawker meals and coffee shop breakfasts
  • Mid-range, about $80 a day: hawker lunches plus a restaurant dinner
  • Comfort, about $160 a day: restaurant meals and drinks

These are typical ranges, not quotes. Two things push restaurant bills up: menus often show prices with “++”, which means a 10% service charge and 9% GST are added, and alcohol is heavily taxed. A cocktail in a bar easily costs S$20–25. Tap water is safe, so carry a bottle.

Attractions: free and paid

Many highlights cost nothing:

  • Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay, including the evening light show
  • Marina Bay waterfront and the free evening light and water show
  • Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam
  • Singapore Botanic Gardens (only the orchid garden charges)

Paid highlights, non-resident adult prices in 2026:

  • Flower Dome + Cloud Forest: S$46 (about $36)
  • Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck: from about S$35 (about $27)
  • Night Safari: about S$55 (about $43)
  • Universal Studios Singapore: from about S$83 (about $65)

Booking online in advance often saves a little. You can compare options in our tours and activities section.

Food (7 days) $210 $560 $1,120
Attractions $100 $300 $500
Total for two ~$2,293 ~$3,390 ~$4,573

Flight and hotel prices from Google Flights and Trip.com (October 30, 2026). Transport, food and attraction amounts are estimates. Budget attractions: Flower Dome + Cloud Forest plus free sights. Comfort includes Universal Studios.

From New York, add roughly $400–450 for two. Singapore also combines well with Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur is a short, cheap flight or bus ride away. See our Malaysia trip cost for couples.

Common budget mistakes

  • Booking the cheapest room without checking it. Many budget rooms are very small or windowless.
  • Forgetting the “++”. A restaurant bill can be about 20% higher than the menu price.
  • Buying the Tourist Pass by default. With normal use, tapping your card is cheaper.
  • Drinking in bars every night. Alcohol is the fastest way to blow the budget.
  • Paying for the SG Arrival Card. It is free on the official ICA website.
